i left the congregation about eight years ago after a very traumatic experience (several, actually).

I think this is one of the areas where the WT has been most sucessful. Convincing people that they are the only one going through a particular situation. Because everyone is afraid of saying something that might get them in trouble there is no real communication in a kingdom hall. People tend to hold things in to where they can become physically or metally sick. You can get to the point were you feel you have to leave die without it even being clear why you feel this way. Then you get out find out they were the problem not you.

it is a long way to my ranch..i mean along way..i live hundreds and hundreds of miles from any large city..the only general store is a miles and miles and miles away..once you get to the area i live,you have to travel a wagon trail that was here in the 1800`s.you`ve got to travel that wagon trail for awhile.there are a few wagon trails that split off from the main one..it`s a whole lot of nothing in every direction..if you manage to chose the right wagon trail to my ranch you still have a way`s to travel.once you get to my ranch,it`s fenced off,the gate is closed and the huskeys guard the yard..your not getting in.....what do i see when i get to the ranch gate?..it looks like a letter,stuffed into a plastic bag..i get closer and it`s too big to be a letter,maybe it`s a wanted poster for outlaw..lol!

!..i finally get to the gate,pull the plastic bag from between the boards of the gate..it`s a 2 page pamphlet about as thick as 2ply toilet paper.it says:"the end of false religion is near!"..??

?..how the hell did a jw find thier way here?..were they lost?..did the dogs eat them?..lol!

Let's see. Two hours drive and walk to your place. Two hours drive and walk back. Don't have to talk to anyone - not a soul. Yep, that's a good four hours field misery to report! Was pioneering always that easy in Canada?

That's exactly what I was thinking. Pop in your favorite CD or book on tape relax enjoy the drive and still be a hero at the KH.

I went to the last Meetup in Sept. in Irvine. It had been almost a year since I went to one. Just before I went in Sept. it came to me that I went to the same hall as the person who organizes the Irvine meetups for a brief period in the 1970s. We had a good chat about old times and the people we mutually knew.

You can go to meetup.com to find one in your area. I also hope to go to the West Covina one in the next few months.

To get a good over view in the big bang you might want to read: " God Time & Stephen Hawking An Exploration into Origins" by David Wilkinson. He is both a Methodist Minister he has a PhD in Theoretical Astrophysics. Here are some of the titles of the chapters: Hubbles's Window on the Universe, A Brief History of the Big Bang, A Singular Problem or two with the Big Bang, and The Uncertainty of Quantum Gravity. I found it to be an easy and fun book to read on the subject. He even quoted Douglas Adams at one point and that alone lifted my opion of him by several notches.

Thank you for your kind comments. Yes I am a little distressed right now. My wife is going away for a week so I will probably be living at Jack the Box for the nest week.

Yes I am ready for Halloween. I aready have a pumpkin on the porch and from what I read on a post a few days ago it could get my wife df'd. I guess for guilt by association.

Can Someone Explain Horror Movies?

i try to be open minded and not judge anything but when i see these movie commercials----.

i think it was saw iii or something, all this blood, gore, shrieking and grotesque violence, all i can do is ask with a sense of awe --why?

why would someone want to watch that?.

I like them if they are well done fantasy type movies like the old ones done by Universal such as Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolf Man. A lot of Stephen King books make good horror movies. I don't like them if they have no story and nothing more than some psycho running around slashing people to death. A good example of a great horror movie is " The Company of Wolves". It has a very surreal nightmarish quality to it.

hello everyone.. i'm an "active" jw and have been for...13 years but my faith in the jw org died about 5 years ago.. so, i've been doing the jw thing for 5 years now without believing in it.

i might be an ms soon, unfortunately.. i tried telling my parents about it but they said apostates are good with twisting words and whatnot.. they wouldn't even let me show them evidence of wt hypocrisy; however, my mother did say she found it odd that every once in a while, there's that publisher resolution of donating a certain amount a year.

there might be hope for her yet.

Don't worry that part will come once they decide you are an apostate. I think you are getting some good advice here. Mine is don't let the cat out of the bag till you are ready to deal with it both emotionally and financially. When they turn on you your live can change very quick. In my case I felt I had to get out of there pretty quick or go crazy but I got some good advice about what to expect so I wasn't shocked at their behavior.

I hope you will stick around. You can learn a lot from the people that post here. They've been through it all.

with all the ridiculous hype amongst the dubs about how this new tract is going to help bring about "the end", i thought it would be beneficial to highlight how often they've been crying that the sky is falling in the last 1/2 century:.

What I think is REALLY sad, is the fact that so many elderly ones, have come this far, believing that they will never die,and here they are again, preaching the end is nigh. For their sakes, I hope to God it's true. They've spent their entire lives, built on fear....fear of dying....fear of not making it into paradise if they don't get X amount of hours in...FEAR, FEAR, FEAR

Mary's aunt gave me a copy of the new tract the other day, and she had tears in her eyes, as she spoke about the end, possibly starting, within a few weeks

I have the same thing in my family Delilah. Seventy and eighty plus years old. In the Tower for over 40 years and still can't see they have been fool. Or maybe they do but for a multitude of reasons can't admit it. If the Watchtower was a car and they were so mislead as to the features and it kept brakiing down they would never buy that make again yet with the Watchtower they keep right on believing and fooling themselves. Proof of the mind control and the insidious way this cult is set up to keep people as its slaves.
